Description

Vic upgraded to a newer hardware and now, with his metal visor as solid as a bass bridge, he'll freakin' rattle yer head off!
A basic coloured version of the emblem. Explaining what the hell this is:
First of all, I decided to go for something quite different. And since Dave allowed to mess around with his Vic, here I go! The old design works fine, but, in my humble opinion (remeber that!), there are some unnecessary things that I got rid off and things I added. Look at those blades that sort of encircle his old rattling head. They act as a semi-frame, something to a) draw your attention, b) add to the agressive mood, c) make the skull more "attractive" in terms of balance and proportions - they form a star-like "corona" that is great for logos, coats-of-arms etc. The old design used to have bones instead of this. While those bones did a good job adding to the character and were meaning-conveying symbols, there were just too many of them. I think it made Vic look a bit awkward, his skull was sort of loosing a personal touch with that big bone frame around it. There were bones that were put in "M" shape for Megadeth - yet there is already a name written above, so adding an "M" looks a little too elaborate. So I concentrated on the skull. Scythe-shaped blades are preserved and added more sophistication with those curves and dents. The skull itself is shaped more agressively, and now Vic has a solid visor-staple...thing... that holds tight his jaws and covers his eyes, yet allowing him to show off his blood-stained teeth. Vic is blinded, but his angry stare can be felt piercing through a sharp curved visor, which to me looks more "modern" as well. The ear-caps are rounded and smooth, as well as grown smaller in size; just like the shape of the visor, the one of the ear-caps is made to appear"faster", lighter and more aggressive. The chains form the shape of a cross; they also represent the cruelty, pain and lack of freedom around the character (I surprised you, didn't I?). The strip of metal running horisontally through the middle of the skull is an axis of symmetry, it makes the image more balanced and steady in its position, just like other kinds of elements put in centre in coats-of-arms and emblems; same goes for the nose-plate. That is it, no more other things scattered all over the place (add them for an album cover!), only those we need to produce a striking, easily reckognised image.
The style of the drawing and colouring is made to resemble the vintage heavy-metal, t-shirts and banners in particular; it is traditional and I got nothing unusual here. It might represent the band's long and glorious history, and the history of every musician in it: the style will link to those good old days of heavy metal, when many aspiring metalheads began jamming and ramming it real heavy and consequentially became cool and mighty maestros in their genre - unlike those who became corrupt by evil forces and betrayed the faith...
p.s. I think I'll do the logo version of it in vector format.
